King Vajiralongkorn of Thailand has made amends with his royal consort, Sineenatra Wongvajirabhakdi.

The Royal Gazette confirmed the reinstatement on Wednesday through an official announcement, reported CBS

As You Were

The Royal Gazette announced that the decision to restore her royal and military titles means that “Wongvajirapakdi is not tarnished”, according to BBC.

Thus, it will be in the same manner that Wongvajirabhakdi’s military “ranks” and royal “titles” were “never stripped of her.”

Nurse, Parachutist, Pilot, Royal Bodyguard, and Royal Consort

Sineenatra Wongvajirabhakdi

Wongvajirabhakdi was born in 1985 and is from northern Thailand.

She was previously a nurse, and eventually became a bodyguard, pilot, parachutist, and a royal guard.

Wongvajirabhakdi was appointed a major-general in early 2019, and not long after, became the first Royal Noble Consort.

BBC reports the last time a Thai monarch had taken a consort was nearly a century ago, in the 1920s.

In July 2019, the King gave the title of “chao khun phra sineenatra bilasakalayani” or the royal consort to Wongvajirabhakdi.

Fell From The Majesty’s Grace

Months after her appointment, a statement from the palace accused Wongvajirabhakdi of “disloyalty”, as per The Guardian.

She was also allegedly trying to convince the king to elevate her to the same rank as Suthida Tidjai, the current queen.

Due to these accusations, King Vajiralongkorn issued a decree to rescind the royal appointment.

Shortly thereafter, the King removed Wongvajirabhakdi’s titles.

Her images vanished from the palace website, and even her unofficial Instagram was taken down.

A History of Denouncing and Disowning

King Vajiralongkorn’s dismissal of Wongvajirabhakdi in 2019 is not unheard of.

In fact, it reflects the cases of Vajiralongkorn’s two former wives, said BBC.

He denounced his second wife in 1996, Yuvadhida Polpraserth, and also disowned four sons he had with her.

In 2014, Vajiralongkorn banished his third wife, Srirasmi Suwadee, and stripped her of all her titles.

The king, who now spends most of his time in Germany, raised his 15-year-old son with Suwadee in Switzerland and Germany.
