Simon Cowell, America’s Got Talent judge and producer, 60, was hospitalized after breaking his back while testing his new electric bike in California.
The music mogul had bike accidents in several places while trying it with his family in his home in Malibu, Syco Entertainment confirmed, in a statement, to USA TODAY.
Cowell was rushed to the hospital because his back hurt, where he had surgery overnight.
The statement added, he’s doing fine, he’s under observation.
In July, it was announced that Cowell will take full control of AGT and The X Factor producer Syco Entertainment.
To A Healthy Lifestyle
With his girlfriend, Lauren Silverman, and six-year-old son, Eric, the star has been in quarantine at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We watch movies in the evening, play together, read books, comics, everything,” he told People in May.
He turned into biking after embracing a get-fit regimen that saw him lose 60 pounds over the past few years.
He recently told Extra: “I think I have dropped, since I started this diet a year ago, 60 pounds.”
The music mogul said being on lockdown has made sticking to his healthy lifestyle much easier, except for the temptations brought on by his son Eric.
“I’m doing a bit of cooking. I’m exercising. Funny enough, more during this time as well, sticking to the diet,” he said.
His Previous Fall
Cowell had a similar accident when he fell down the stairs at his London home in 2017.
“Sometimes, we get a reminder that we’re not invincible, and this was certainly mine,” he told the Sun newspaper at the time.
“It was a huge shock,” the AGT judge added.
“They think I fainted because I had low blood pressure and so I have got to really take good care of myself to sort that out,” he said.
“After all, I am a dad and have more responsibility than ever.”
