United States President Donald Trump threatened to boycott the NFL or US soccer.

His condition: if players do not stand for the national anthem he will not watch either game.

This is the President’s reaction to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell declaration that its players should be allowed to protest during the anthem.

NFL also argued that it was “wrong for not listening” to players earlier.

Also, US soccer overturned a ban on players kneeling during the anthem on Thursday.

In 2016, NFL star Colin Kaepernick started this practice to highlight racial inequality.

Trump opposed kneeling during the anthem and demanded those who do so to be sacked.

Trump responded to a slamming US Soccer’s decision on social media, and said: “I won’t be watching much anymore.”

He later tweeted: “And it looks like the NFL is heading in that direction also, but not with me watching.”

Both the reversals by the NFL and US Soccer came amid ongoing protests following the death of George Floyd.

Floyd, an unarmed African-American man, died in police custody in Minneapolis after a white officer knelt on his neck.
