A demonstration in front of Palmdale City Hall began on Friday morning, as protesters demanded a full investigation on the death of Robert Fuller, a 24-year-old African American.
On Wednesday morning, a passerby near the Palmdale City Hall saw Fuller’s body hanging from a tree in Poncitlan Square and immediately called 911.
Lt. Brandon Dale from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station told LAIST, “From (the) initial investigation of the scene and everything we’ve recovered, all signs right now lead us to believe this was a suicide. Without going into too much detail, it doesn’t appear there was any sign of a fight or struggle.” He added that the investigation is still ongoing and a full autopsy is yet to be done.
People who attended the demonstrations do not believe the initial findings of the investigation and according to NBC Los Angeles, protesters wanted to know more details on the person who found Fuller’s body and were questioning the lack of any video surveillance footage.
The authorities said that there is no video surveillance around.
The hashtag #JusticeforRobertFuller trended on Twitter on Friday, with speculations and questions from people seeking the truth on his death.
Dean said that they were already communicating with Fuller’s family members.
