American rapper, Kanye West, announced his plan to run for the US President post on 2020.
In his Twitter account, West posted the following statement:
“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for President of the United States!”
West added the hashtag #2020VISION in his post.
Elon Musk, entrepreneur and owner of Tesla and SpaceX aired his support for West by replying, “You have my full support!”
A few days ago, West posted an image of him and Musk hanging out together.
Kim Kardashian West, TV personality and wife of West also retweeted his tweet as a form of support.
The singer has not announced yet on whether he will follow through with his statement or not.
Furthermore, there were no clarifications yet if he had already filed the necessary documents to back up his announcement.
Despite the support from Musk and his wife, not everyone is happy with the announcement.
Some people took the singer’s declaration as a joke.
Other people think that it is a conspiracy to make US President Donald Trump win again.
Fulfilling His Promise?
West’s Twitter announcement is not the first time the famous rapper declared his desire to run for Presidency.
In 2015, West announced his decision to run for President in 2020 during the MTV Video Music Awards.
Although he also admitted that he may have been under the influence when he said that.
“The answer is yes, I rolled up something,” he told the audience during that time.
In 2019, the singer also told an audience at a Fast Company Innovation Festival his plans to run for the Presidency position in 2024.
“When I run for President in 2024, we would’ve created so many jobs, that I’m not going to run, I’m going to walk”, he said.
