With drive-in theaters making a comeback due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a company called Beyond Cinema has decided to go to the next level.
The event will have audiences in boats on water.
And they’re coming to San Diego.
They will be visiting sixteen cities across the US and some in Canada.
The locations include:
- Los Angeles
- San Francisco
- St. Louis
- New York
The tour will run from September to October.
The location for the San Diego visit has not yet been announced but the boats will be docked from September 2nd to September 6th.
Beyond Cinema has already featured their attraction in Sydney, Australia in 2018 and 2019.
How Does It Work?
The audience will be spread among twenty-four socially-distanced floating boats.
Each boat will hold up to eight people.
Customers will be priced per boat to better assure that groups are only seated with household members.
Attendees will be offered popcorn, though snacks and drinks will also be available for purchase.
The movie lineup and prices haven’t been released but the website states there will be a mix of “golden oldies and new releases”.
Beyond Cinema events usually include a theme. Some past parties have included “The Titanic”, “The Great Gatsby”, “The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party”, and “Shawshank Redemption”.
