CNN anchor Chris Cuomo said his wife has been diagnosed with Coronavirus two weeks after he announced on his show that he was infected.
“Cristina (Cuomo) now has COVID. She is positive. And it just breaks my heart. It just breaks my heart. It’s the one thing I was hoping wouldn’t happen. And now it has,” the CNN anchor said.
The CNN anchor made the announcement on the network during an interview with his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo is the presenter of Cuomo Prime Time, a weeknight news analysis show on CNN.
Cuomo continued to host his 9 p.m. program from the basement of his home in Long Island, New York since he was infected.
The couple got married in 2001, and have three children together.
“Kids are still healthy but this shook us at our literal core,” he said in a tweet. “All are stepping up. Can’t wait to shake this fever so I can help as she helped me.”
The CNN website reported that Brooke Baldwin also tested positive for coronavirus. Baldwin hosts CNN Newsroom from 2pm to 4pm ET.
The cable news network said it has implemented “sweeping changes in response to the pandemic” and said the majority of employees have worked from home for several weeks and broadcasting from small studios and home offices.
